Northern California ski areas are in the midst of a solid storm cycle, with the heaviest 5-day snowfall forecast centered around the Lake Tahoe region. Palisades Tahoe (near the Squaw Valley G.C. and Ward Creek sensors) is forecast to receive up to 42 inches, with nearby resorts like Sugar Bowl (CSS Lab sensor, 43") and Homewood (Ward Creek #3, 40") also expecting significant accumulation. Echo Peak and Carson Pass are tracking 31–33" over the next five days, and Heavenly Mountain Resort is looking at 20". Current snowpack depths are impressive across these elevations, with CSS Lab and Independence Lake showing over 80" and 100" respectively. Snowfall over the past 24 hours has been modest (0–2") in most areas, but some locations like Forestdale Creek and Burnside Lake saw 1"–2".

South of Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain (proximate to the Horse Meadows and Leavitt Lake sensors) is forecast to see 19–27" over five days, with already deep snowpacks exceeding 90". In the Central Sierra, Dodge Ridge and Bear Valley areas (near Bloods Creek and Black Springs) are expecting 32–39", indicating renewed powder days ahead. Meanwhile, the far northern Shasta-Trinity region lit up over the last 24 hours, with Mumbo Basin receiving 34" and Stouts Meadow 33". These explosive totals may impact backcountry access and road conditions. Snow-lovers in cities like Truckee, South Lake Tahoe, and Mammoth Lakes should expect active weather through the weekend. The Sierra continues to deliver, with the highest totals focused across the central and northern spine.

3. Heavenly Mountain Resort: Located in South Lake Tahoe, Heavenly Mountain Resort is the largest ski resort in California, with a skiable area of over 4,800 acres. It has an average snowfall of 360 inches per year. The best month to visit is usually March.
